Ever since I was a shy little boy, encouragement was important to me.. I am forever grateful for people who gave me a kind word, a smile, looked me in the eye with a firm handshake, and kept me going through many hardships and tragedies. I was a 22 year old college kid in Oklahoma City when I got the phone call late at night on Memorial Day weekend from my brother that our dad just died at home. He was only 49 years old and over 1300 miles away. Years later, after losing my 5 year old son to Cerebral Palsy on Easter weekend. His sister was born three days later. I will never forget, A memorial church service and baby shower all in the same week.
How thankful I will always be for people who showed up in my life at just the right time to encourage me. Because getting to now be the dad of two beautiful intelligent daughters, family means everything to me.
My entire life has been dedicated to being an encourager. What does that mean? My purpose and passion is to see people for what they can become when given a simple positive word of hope and recognition. It is amazing to see the transformation that takes place within people just like you, in families, inside a corporate culture, within small businesses, among employees.
To see someone's eyes light up when they are called by their name. To lift someone's spirits when the pressures of life have weighed them down. I'm challenging you to become an encourager too, if you aren't already. There's a surprising power that is released inside of you when you make a conscious choice to encourage someone.
